Hi there,

My name is Stephen and I am from Dublin, Ireland and I am about to tell you a true story about how you can lose weight and get rid of your belly fat and it doesn't matter if you are male or female.

On a beautiful late spring afternoon, 9 months ago, my best friend Mike and myself met up at a rugby match in Dublin for the semi-final of the Heineken Rugby cup in Lansdowne between Leinster and Toulouse.

After chatting about our favourite rugby teams in Slattery's pub on the corner Of Shelbourne rd and Bath Avenue prior to the match we both discovered something rather unusual. What we found out was that both of us had a problem with our belly fat and our weight.

We are both in our early 40s and both us have young families (I have 2 girls and Mike has a girl and a boy). Now if you are married, you tend to let things slip and I had let myself get out of shape badly in the last 10 years. I was munching down on far too many pizzas, cokes and chocolate and had put on a belly as you can see from the picture above.

I knew I had to do something about it but I had no idea where to start.I didn't really think much more about our conversation until we met again at another rugby match 3 months later.

But there was a huge difference meeting this time. One of us had lost a shed load of weight whilst the other had put on more weight..

I found out that we both took 2 totally different courses of action over the previous 3 months....

The truth is I had started to eat and exercise correctly whereas Mike hadn't.

Mike just continued on with his normal lifestyle on a day to day basis. He got up, went to work, entertained clients in the evening, came home, played with the kids (if he got back in time from his meals in the evening with clients), chatted to his wife and went to bed. The cycle repeated on a daily basis until the weekend when he let his hair down, went to the pub and drunk copious amounts of Guinness and washed it down with batter sausage and chips before he got home.

I on the other hand, being a bit of a research geek, went online and tried to find out more about how I could lose weight. I was just surfing the net when I went to a site that a friend had recommended just 2 days after I last saw Mike at the rugby match. Now when I landed on this site I thought this was a scam if ever I saw one. It was the most plain jane, dull, unprofessional looking site I ever saw but something about it just grabbed my attention.

It was the fact that 1000's of people had tried this same diet and had lost a lot of weight. Now being the sceptic that I am I still wasn't convinced when I read what others were saying about this so-called cure. I even went to forums to see what others were saying about this diet. I still wasn't convinced, however when you are backed up against a wall with nowhere to go, you will try anything and that's exactly what I did.

However, I wanted to do something different. If you are like me then you have read about all the diets that "allegedly" work. I wanted to see for myself if this diet I was going to try really did work. So, I decided to use myself as a guninea pig on this diet. I wanted to provide real proof in the form of a video. In this video I weighed myself at the beginning so you can see what I weighed before I started the diet, I then bought the newspapers to provide proof of the dates that I was weighing myself, I then weighed myself after the diet. I also took before and after pictures.

As happy as I was with having lost 21lbs in 20 days I still wanted to lose a lot more weight and felt I needed to try something different. The Fat Loss For Idiots programme worked brilliantly to get rid of unwanted weight fast however in 2011 I hit a bit of a speed bump. It all started with a bit of fun. My brother in law was turning 40 and decided to throw a bit of a party in his house. The theme was fancy dress, and never being one to get easily embarrassed I decided to dress up as a Hawaian Hula Girl which is where it all went very wrong.

My 2 girls and wife were mortified when I told them what I was planning on doing, they practically wanted to disown me as I would be such an embarrasment. However, that wasn't the biggest mistake I made, it was when I posted the picture on Facebook and got comments back that the truth really hit home. Here I was thinking I was in OK shape as I had lost some excess weight

As much as I love Facebook people can be very honest, sometimes even too honest when they are commenting on a picture. If a handful of people write what they think then a far bigger percentage are actually thinking it but are too polite to write it. I mean when you start getting comments like

"Its not the outfit its the waist line, boy you need some quads"

or

"Exactly what was the theme? The beached mermaid!"

you really began to look at yourself in a whole new light.

However, the final nail in the coffin came a week later from a friend in the UK who I hadn't seen in a good few years stumbled across my picture I posted on Facebook. Here's what he had to say.....

When someone says to you

"Best let out that Hawiaan skirt Steve...

and I responded

"My body is a temple"

and they respond back

"...and from that photo, looks like many people have presented their gifts to it!!!"

it was then that I realised I really needed to lose a lot of weight.

So I hopped online and did a lot of research on the best weight loss programs out there. It took me a couple of months to eliminate the good from the bad.I had a bunch of criteria that each program had to meet before I even considered it.
